Who we are in Christ Jesus

The Bible says that we as Christians have been saved by Jesus Christ and become more like Him by the power of the Holy Spirit’s renewal of our minds. Our lives are imperfect and we all have common problems. However, who we are in Christ will never change.

Here’s the list of who we are in Christ Jesus

  • I am forgiven – All sins have been forgiven and I am not condemned (Ephesians 1:6-8; Romans 8:1; 8:38).
  • I am reconciled with God (Romans 5:10; 2 Corinthians 5:18-19; Colossians 1:21-22; Hebrews 10:19-22).
  • I am rescued (Matthew 20:28; 1 Timothy 2:5-6).
  • I am redeemed (Ephesians 1:13-14; Colossians 1:14; Titus 2:14; Hebrews 9:12; 1 Peter 1:18).
  • I am free – as in I have freedom and liberty (John 8:32-36; Romans 6:22-23; Galatians 4:7; 5:1).
  • I am bought with a price and belong to God (1 Corinthians 6:19-20; 7:23).
  • I am known by God (Romans 8:29; 2 Timothy 2:19).
  • I am chosen (Romans 8:30; Ephesians 1:4; 1 Peter 2:9).
  • I am justified before God (Romans 3:23-26; 5:1; 8:1; 8:30).
  • I am accepted (Romans 5:17; Ephesians 1:4-6; 1 Peter 2:10).
  • I am saved (Romans 5:8-10; 7:13-25; Ephesians 2:1-10; Colossians 1:13).
  • I am alive (Romans 6:11; 8:9-11; Ephesians 2:4-5).
  • I am loved (Romans 5:5; 8:39; 1 John 3:16; 4:19).
  • I am taken care of (John 6:37; Philippians 1:6; 4:19).
  • I am a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:1-5; 5:16-19; Philippians 3:20-21).
  • I am born of God (John 1:12-13; Romans 8:29; 1 John 4:7).
  • I am adopted of God (Romans 8:15; Ephesians 1:5; Hebrews 2:10-12).
  • I am a child of the promise (Romans 9:8; Galatians 4:23).
  • I am Jesus’ friend (John 15:15).
  • I am a citizen of Heaven (Ephesians 2:19; Philippians 3:20).
  • I am blessed with every spiritual blessing (Ephesians 1:3; 2:7).
  • I am God’s workmanship (Ephesians 2:10).
  • I am a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19; 2 Corinthians 6:16).
  • I am a member of Christ’s Body (Romans 12:5; 1 Corinthians 12:27).
  • I am sealed (2 Corinthians 1:22; Ephesians 1:13; 4:30).
  • I am made pure (1 John 1:9; 3:3).
  • I am secure (Romans 8:28; 8:31-38).
  • I am safe (2 Corinthians 1:21-22).
  • I am victorious (Romans 8:37; 1 Corinthians 15:57).
  • I am going to live forever (John 5:24; 6:47; 11:25-26; 17:3).
  • I am in God’s planned will as an heir of all creation (Romans 8:17; 8:32; Ephesians 1:9-11).

Who God created me to be

  • I am a creature (Genesis 2:7).
  • I am like God (Genesis 1:26-27).
  • I am known (Psalm 139; Jeremiah 1:5).
  • I am made to be God’s caretaker of His Creation (Genesis 1:26-31; 2:15-17).
  • I am made to relate to His Creation (Genesis 2:19-24).
  • I am made to worship God in gratitude (Genesis 1:28-30; 2:16-17).
